DUNCHURCH INCIDENT: Police increase presence to ‘reassure residents’ after woman taken to hospital with chest injuries

Police have increased their presence in Northampton Lane, Dunchurch, after an incident yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).

The road will remain closed for the rest of the day while officers investigate.

A 36-year-old woman is in a stable condition in hospital with chest injuries.

Police are remaining tight lipped about what happened but they released a statement to the Advertiser, stating that they are “keeping an open mind as to how the injuries were caused”.

Forensic teams were working in the street yesterday.

Detective Inspector Jason Downes said: “We have an increased police presence in the area to provide reassurance to local people while we continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to this incident. We continue to keep an open mind and appeal for anyone with information to contact us.”

Detective Chief Inspector Neil Harrison said: “We are currently speaking to witnesses in an attempt to piece together the events leading up to this incident. At the moment we are keeping an open mind as to how these injuries were caused.”
