Elderly man airlifted to hospital by Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance following A5 crash in Clifton upon Dunsmore

TWO people have been injured following a crash in Clifton yesterday (Wednesday).

Emergency services were called to the junction of the A5 and Lilbourne Road in Clifton upon Dunsmore at around 2.10pm.

An ambulance, a rapid response vehicle, a paramedic area support officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance were all dispatched to the scene.

A number of vehicles from East Midlands Ambulance Service were also in attendance.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: “On arrival at the scene, crews found two cars that had been in collision.

“Two occupants from one of the vehicles were injured following the incident. Both casualties, a man and a woman believed to be in their 70s, were extricated from the vehicle, with the assistance of the fire service.

“The woman was treated at the scene for chest and pelvic injuries. The casualty was fully immobilised and airlifted to University Hospital of Coventry and Warwickshire for further assessment and treatment.

“The man was treated for potential spinal injuries. He was also fully immobilised and conveyed, via land ambulance, to the same hospital.

“No one else was injured in this incident.”
