A county council spokesman said: “As you may be aware, these works were originally planned to be completed in January.

“Unfortunately, the contractor has uncovered uncharted utility services which required appropriate permissions from their owners before removal or alteration. This has now been completed allowing the main construction works to continue with a revised planned completion date of April 2017.

“Unfortunately some disruption will be unavoidable, however efforts will be made to keep delays to a minimum. As far as possible the works have been planned to be carried out at weekends including off-peak hours and night-time working to mitigate the delay caused by the uncharted services.

“I would like to apologise on behalf of Warwickshire County Council for the disruption and regret any inconvenience that may be caused by these works. We will continue to work with our Contractor – Jackson Civil Engineering to keep delays to a minimum.”

The work has also seen the installation of a new bus shelter on the opposite side of the road from the new development. The spokesman added: “In regards to the new bus shelter to the east of the roundabout, this has been funded by the developer and will serve the residents of the new development who wish to travel towards the centre of Rugby.”
