Engineering competition win for Rugby College pupil

An ambitious student at Rugby College has been given cause to celebrate after he was named a winner in a national engineering competition.

Max Sellars was chosen as one of six students in the UK to win a place on the Renishaw Engineering Experience, organised in partnership with the charity Young Engineers.

As part of his prize, he was given a tour of some of the UK’s top engineering businesses, with the chance to take part in technical demonstrations.

He also had the chance to visit British Airways Maintenance, EDF Energy, BBC Bristol, Rolls Royce, Bouygues and Aardman Studios.

Max, who lives with his parents in Princethorpe, explained that this opportunity has given him an insight into the different opportunities a career in engineering can offer.

He said: “I am interested in a science or engineering career but I am not sure which path to take.

“The Renishaw Engineering Experience has given me a clearer picture of the day-to-day activities of different types of engineers from many industry sectors.”
