Ben Holder is looking to bring a little more jazz to the lives of Rugby people.
The 25-year-old musician plays jazz piano and also sings the odd song or two.
He recently started a jazz club at Dunchurch Village Hall which he describes as the ‘perfect venue’.
He said: “I have a passion for playing and providing a brilliant night’s live music.
“When I moved to Rugby in 2014, I realised quite quickly there were not many venues which provided regular jazz nights for us jazz fans.
“Summersault in the town centre did have Friday night live jazz which accompanied your meal, but even that came to an end towards the end of 2014 which was a great shame.
“This was when I decided I really wanted to bring fantastic live music to the local area, and when I became acquainted with Dunchurch Village Hall, I realised that I had found a great venue.”
The jazz club’s first evening took place on January 14 and was led by Ben’s own band – The Ben Holder Quartet.
“The night was a good success with many local people coming out to support the music, creating a brilliant atmosphere.
“The kind of jazz we like to put on and play, is the kind everyone can enjoy, even if you don’t think you are a big jazz fan.
“ To have people come up to us after the show and declare “I didn’t think I liked jazz until I came and heard this tonight” is a great feeling indeed.”
The next night will be tomorrow (Friday) and will feature Richard Exhall on saxophone, Clarinet and vocals.
It starts at 8pm with doors and bar opening at 7.30pm.
Tickets are £10 in advance or £12.
