Works teams are “addressing issues around the badly-drained section on the west side of the park near to the river”, said the council.

“Soak-away crates have been fitted into the ground with membrane and gravel on top to enable surface water to drain away naturally.

“In another section of the park, a set of steel crates filled with granite, with land reinstated over the top, will help to stop the banks of the river being eroded,” added the local authority.

“A new surface is also being installed to several sections of pathway around the site and works are being carried out to provide access to some areas near to the river.

“Small sections of path are being fenced off and closed for short periods of time.”

The scheme to improve and overhaul the park is set to be completed by the end of this month.
