The retailer plans to open its first store in the town in early spring after agreeing a 10-year lease with local commercial property agent Reeves & Partners, which acted on behalf of the landlord Hatchback Ltd.

Evans Cycles is due to fit out the 3,349 sq ft ground floor premises in Warwick Street to offer a wide range of products including bikes, cycle clothing, accessories and parts as well as an on-site cycle servicing facility.

Mike Rice, of Evans Cycles, said: “As a business we feel that, with our nearest store in Birmingham, there is a real opportunity in the Mid-Warwickshire area.

“Cycling is growing in popularity as it is across the UK and we see real potential in the area.

Leamington is well-known for its vibrant retail market, and pulls people in from across the region.

“We want to take advantage of that and add to the strong retail offer.

“Its strong transport links will also enable us to give new customers situated along the M40 corridor access to an Evans Cycles store for the first time.

“We are looking forward to moving into the unit which benefits from good visibility, a great town centre location, and also provides customers with access to parking either outside of the store or in local car parks.

“We will be looking to undertake a fit out at the store in the New Year and will be recruiting around 15 staff ahead of the planned opening in early spring 2016.”

Evans Cycles is one of Britain’s largest bike retailers with 58 stores located across the UK and employs more than 1,000 staff.
