It’s undoubtedly a difficult time for Rugby’s town centre, with several shop closures announced in the last few months - but an independent business on Regent Street is bucking the trend.
Albert’s Menswear, which opened in December 2014, will host a launch party for its new wedding and formal wear range this Friday.
Owner Dave Hall has expanded the existing shop into the upper floor of the building with the help of new business partner Samantha Spencer.
Dave said: “Me and Sam have known each other for 20 years and she’s worked at the shop for the last 18 months.
“The new range will offer something a little different - it’s not offering your traditional top hat and tails! It’s trendy formal wear, stuff that’s a bit quirky.
“ I’m very loyal to the town as I live in Hillmorton. Everything’s been going really well with Albert’s Menswear so far and I really want this to work.”
Samantha Spencer said: “We are very positive people in general and I think this will be a positive thing for the town centre. Any fresh business is a good thing.
“I’m excited, nervous and scared! But overall I feel good because I believe in what we’re doing and what we have to offer. I think it will be a big success.”
The launch party will take place at the shop on Friday from 6pm to 9pm and the Mayor of Rugby, Cllr Sally Bragg, will be in attendance. Everyone welcome.
