Visitors to patients at The Hospital of St Cross will be able to spend more time with loved ones over the festive period.
University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, which runs St Cross, is extending visiting hours over the festive period.
From today (Thursday, December 24) until Sunday, January 3, friends and family can visit their relatives from 10am to 8pm each day.
It is hoped that this will bring some much-needed family cheer and home comforts to patients while they are in hospital.
Parking will be free on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
Chief Nursing Officer, Mark Radford, said: “Christmas is a time of year that many families like to spend together, but unfortunately some patients will be too sick to go home over the festive period.
“By increasing the visiting hours we are giving families the opportunity to spend as much time as they can with their loved ones over Christmas.
“I would like to thank all our staff who are working over the holidays for their efforts to make Christmas a happier time in hospital.”
The restriction for no more than two visitors per bed remains in place for infection prevention and control reasons.
As at any time of year, if patients or visitors have extra visiting requirements, they should speak to staff on the ward.
