Some people are still in denial about the impending arrival of Christmas but for those of you in the spirit, there’s a new event to look forward to.
On Saturday, December 10, St Marie’s RC Church is going to have its first Christmas Market in nearby Oak Street.
The event will have gifts and trade stalls, tombola, Santa’s Grotto, music, foods, and more - and the whole street will be closed during the day.
The occasion is in aid of the Spire Restoration Appeal, which aims to raise the £100,000 for the restoration and upkeep of the landmark tower and spire.
A spokesman said: “The tower and spire is not only an architectural legacy but a heritage that needs to be enjoyed by future generations of the town.
“We are anticipating more than 30 stalls. It will be a great place to buy Christmas gifts as well as to enjoy a festive atmosphere with the wider community.
