Festival day of fun

Napton Village hosted it's 8th Annual Music Festival at the weekend, with a line up of local musicians, who played to the visiting crowds, over the two day event.

The two-day event, which started on Friday July 11, saw performances from Voodoo Vegas, SixtyFours, Nina Baker and many others.

This year’s festival had a brand new stage from Summer Breeze and a new sound system. The event raised money for the Napton Music Festival Trust, which provides funding to help develop young people’s musical skills. Funds are often put towards music lessons or instruments.

Gordon Clarke, a trustee of Napton Music Festival Trust, said the event was “fantastic”.

He added: “All the bands were great, we had some local ones and others from London, Manchester, all over really.

“It was a great success. Attendance was good and up on last year.

“We had more bands than last time and they made the most of the fantastic new stage.

“The bands love the festival because it’s intimate and they are playing to a very appreciative crowd. It’s really quite spectacular.

“The whole aim is to raise money for the grant system and help get people into music and we’ve achieved that.”

As well as live performances, there were also retro stalls selling vinyl records and jewellery, a children’s area with a giant slide, and a variety of food and drink on offer.
