First class performances have earned dancers from Christine Anderson Theatre School in Rugby a string of awards.

East Warwickshire Dance Festival took place over three weekends at Ashlawn School last month.

Five dance schools battled it out in the festival and dancers said competition was fierce.

The independent federation adjudicator was impressed with the high quality and standard of both the dancers and the festival organisation.

Throughout the run of the festival the adjudicator was asked to select six dancers who showed special talent who are then invited to showcase their own solo dance.

Four CATS dancers were successful - Niamh Soley, Amy Smith, Livvy Back.

The Vicki Jo Memorial Award Winner for 2017 was Joseph Jones.

Joesph said: “I was so honoured to receive the Vicki-Jo award. It was Vicki who encouraged me to dance and sing when I was just six. She sent me to audition for ‘Priscilla, Queen of the Desert’ when I was 9. I went on to tour in the production and to be on stage with Jason Donovan. I have so much to thank Vicki for and I will always try to make her proud.”

Christine Anderson, principal of CATS, said: “I watched every one of my dancers perform over the six days of competition.

“They danced their hearts out and it was a joy to behold.”
