Figures released by Warwickshire Police this week show there were 4,000 fewer crimes than the previous year in the county - a fall of 12 per cent.

Compared to six years ago there were more than 15,000 fewer crimes reported - a fall of more than one third - with an average of 81 crimes being committed across the county each day including five burglaries and one robbery.

Data from the financial year between April 1 2012 and March 31 2013 shows that compared to the previous 12 months overall incidents were down by 4,208 including 376 fewer burglaries, 52 fewer robberies, 270 fewer incidents in which people were injured due to violent crime, 390 fewer vehicle crimes and 3,210 few incidents of antisocial behaviour.

There were also 22 fewer road collisions where people were killed or seriously injured - a fall of 7.5 per cent - and deaths on roads were reduced from 38 to 29.

Andy Parker, Warwickshire Police’s chief constable, said that the county is one of the safer places in England for people to live.

He thanked various councils and agencies for their help and highlighted the efforts of the public and volunteers including special constables and Neighbourhood Watch .

Mr Parker added: “We will continue to target criminals who cause harm and focus our efforts in those areas where most crime occurs. We are determined to reduce crime further.”
