Chef David Ferguson and the team at the Michelin guide-featured restaurant posted a message on their facebook page last Wednesday evening: “With deep sadness, we need to announce that unfortunately Ferguson’s restaurant will no longer be open for business.

“We’d like to thank everyone for their custom and support over the last two-and-a-half years, and we hope we’ll see you all again at some point in the future.”

The same Facebook page was in upbeat mood only last month, announcing a gastronomic world tour and whetting appetites with its Himalayan salt-aged steaks.

But now the shutters are up at the building, previously home to Vermillion.
