Firefighters were called to a blaze at a derelict Rugby hotel last night (Sunday).
Four fire engines and an ‘aerial appliance’ attended the incident at the Imperial Hotel in Oxford Street. The first of six 999 calls was received at 10.33pm.
Two fire engines from Rugby initially attended. A further fire engine was then sent from Southam, and on arrival the crews then requested a fourth fire appliance which was mobilised from Lutterworth and an aerial appliance from Leamington, which allowed the fire to be fought from above.
The fire was at the back of the derelict hotel, measuring 40m by 20m. Firefighters brought the fire under control early this morning.
The cause has not yet been determined.
