Fire near Rugby Scout HQ ‘was started deliberately’

A fire near a Scout hut in Rugby early this morning was started deliberately, according to Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service.

Crews were alerted to a fire near the building on the Newbold Path, off Oliver Street, Rugby at 1.46am today (Friday).

One fire engine from Rugby attended, with crews confirming a “deliberate fire to a small wooden structure near to the Scout hut”.

The firefighters had returned to their station by 2.14am.

The hut is used as the headquarters for the district’s Scouts.
