Firefighters tackle blaze at Rugby recycling plant

Firefighters put out a blaze at a recycling plant in Rugby yesterday afternoon (Thursday, June 1).

Two Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service fire engines from Rugby were sent to the SITA SUEZ UK Recycling Facility at around 4.05pm.

The fire produced a large amount of smoke and was located in a small unit within the Parkfield Road plant.

Fire crews used breathing apparatus and a hose reel jet to extinguish the fire, taking around an hour.
