NOVEMBER 5 and New Year’s Eve may well be the highlights of the annual fireworks calendar.
But if you want to see a spectacular display put on by some of the country’s leading specialised firework companies, then Stanford Hall near Rugby is the place to be tonight (Saturday).
It is the first leg of the annual GB Firework Championship Series, organised by the internationally renowned Daventry based MLE Pyrotechnics, who will be putting on the closing display at the end of the evening.
Three companies – Blitz Fireworks of Crewe, Spitfire Pyrotechnics from Coventry, and Celebration Displays from Bury, in Lancashire – will all put on a top class firework display, all choreographed to music.
Then, while MLE Pyrotechnics put on their closing display, it will be the votes of the audience that decides the eventual winners.
“It’s a spectacular night, and if you a thrilled by top class firework displays, then this is the place for you,” said Mat Lawrence. “We have three of the UK’s best companies coming to put on a display, and what makes this more attractive is that the winner is decided on the night by the audience.
“Each display lasts for 10 minutes, set to music, and with running commentary to explain what you are seeing and how it works. Once the third show has finished the audience are invited to text us their winner.
“Before the displays, the audience are given a demonstration, where we fire a selection of fireworks and explain what you are seeing, and how it works.”
Gates open at Stanford Hall at 5pm, with pre-show attractions and entertainments, and plenty of room for families to bring along a picnic. The demonstration starts at 9pm, with the three displays getting underway at 9.30pm.
