Flat fire in Rugby

Firefighters were called to a blaze at a flat in Rugby yesterday (Tuesday) evening.

The incident happened in Mica Close at about 7pm.

Two fire engines from the town were mobilised and the fire, which had started in a kitchen, was extinguished in about 20 minutes by the crews using a hose reel and breathing apparatus.

The Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service crews also requested the attendance of the Red Cross Emergency Support Service with staff being mobilised from Kenilworth fire station.

The fire crews had returned to Rugby fire station by 9pm while the Red Cross unit returned to its station at 1.45am.
