Four arrested on suspicion of railway cable theft in Church Lawford

POLICE have arrested four people in Church Lawford near Rugby on suspicion of stealing cable from a railway line.

The arrests by Warwickshire Police officers on behalf of British Transport Police, took place at shortly after 10pm kast night (Thursday) on land adjoining the railway line, near to the A428 Rugby Road and Coronation Road. The four men were found hiding in bushes.

Warwickshire Police officers, including a dog patrol and the force helicopter were deployed to the scene following a report of suspicious activity on the railway line.

Train drivers were advised to drive with caution through the area while police officers were in the area.

The four males, two aged 24,and the others aged 25 and 31 years, were taken to Nuneaton Police Station where they are due to be questioned by officers from British Transport Police.
