Men and boys of any age are invited to a male-only fitness and health check at The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Centre on Fathers’ Day - with the chance to try out a range of sports free of charge.

There will be a variety of free taster sessions involving activities such as basketball, climbing, spin classes, badminton and a bouncy castle for dads bringing their children along.

Georgia Barrett, community sport officer at centre, said: “It’s an important day and our aim is to inspire men and boys of all ages to take part in the event. Being physically active is key to looking after our bodies and what could be better than taking part in physical exercise”.

The centre’s Healthwise co-ordinator will be conducting free health checks on the day, examining at blood pressure, BMI and body fat percentage. Representatives from Prostate Cancer UK, Mind and Myton Hospice will also be attending to discuss how they can too support men’s health and provide important advice.

The event, on Sunday June 15, is free for all to join in. The centre is in Bruce Williams Way. For more information email
