Free computers for longer at Rugby Library

Members of Rugby library can now use its computers free of charge for longer.

The county council decided last week to abolish fees.

A spokesman stressed that the measure does not mean people will be able to spend all day on the computers, but they can book the first hour at no cost - and can keep using them if other customers are not waiting to use the machine.

Previously, the first half hour was free but charges were brought in after that time had elapsed.

The council will continue to charge non-library members or tourists – but the offer will be extended from £2.50 per 30 minutes to £2.50 per 60 minutes.

Cllr Colin Hayfield, the councillor responsible for libraries, said: “Not everyone has a comuter at home. Free use of computers will do a great deal to create opportunities for people.”
