A trip down memory lane ended with two childhood friends being reunited after nearly 60 years.
Childhood friends Mavis Morley, 83 and Doris Adams, 84, met by chance after they both went to visit the ‘Old Newbold’ exhibition at St Botolph’s Church, Newbold, on Sunday.
The pair hadn’t seen each other since 1957 when Mavis emigrated to Canada. She was back in Rugby visiting her daughter and had popped into the exhibition to relive some childhood memories, when she met up with her old friend.
Mavis said: “My eyes were drawn to her, but I didn’t know why. Then one of the organisers who had been chatting to each of us put two and two together and introduced us.”
The photos of village life came to life as they reminisced about school days, family and friends.
Doris said: “Fate has played its part in bringing us together after all these years.”
