More than 800 runners and spectators descended upon Rugby for a fun half marathon on Sunday.

Rugby Half Marathon, organised by sports event specialists Always Aim High, took place in glorious sunshine.

Sunday was a glorious day for the fun run.

Sunday was a glorious day for the fun run.

Organisers said this year’s event was a big success.

Coming out on top in the men’s race was Stuart Spencer, who dominated the deceptively hilly course and finished nearly five minutes ahead of second place Chris Jordan with a time of 01.09.22. Callum Rowlinson rounded off the top 3.

The women’s race was a closer run affair with eventual winner Rosanna Andrews leading second place Laura Heath by just over a minute.

The gap to third was larger, with Laura finishing nearly four minutes ahead of third place Joanna Spencer.

Taking place at the same time as the half marathon was the Rugby Fun Run, which saw 13-year-old Joe Harries dominate the race with a time 00.29.44. The women’s fun run was won by Sophie Mccammond with a very respectable time of 00.34.59.

The Fun Run gave runners the perfect opportunity to raise money for their chosen charities and to have a go at marathon running.

The festival of running continued into the afternoon with the junior race.

Local children took part with all of them receiving a bespoke medal for participating.

The junior race was won by Kian Ludford, who completed the 1km course with a time of 00.06.32.
