Fun take on Shakespeare

More than 120 people of all ages were entertained by a fun take on Shakespeare's famous love story Romeo and Juliet at Rugby Library over the half term.

The Bard’s Best Bits of Romeo and Juliet was performed by national touring company Oddsocks Productions, thanks to a grant from Arts Council England.

Cllr Kam Kaur, portfolio holder for customers at Warwickshire County Council, said: “We are delighted that
so many people got the chance to see the award-winning 
Oddsocks at Rugby Library.

“Their comedy adaptation of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet appealed to audience members of all ages, making it a half-term highlight for many local families.”

Cllr Matt Western, chairman of the council’s Resources and Fire & Rescue Overview and Scrutiny Committee, added: “Our libraries are real hubs of learning and culture.

“I’m pleased that so many people were able to see this top class production for free at Rugby Library.”

The Rugby performance was part of a regional tour with performances in 14 libraries.
