Fundraising event proved to be a close shave for Steve

Seeing his mother’s fight against cancer has inspired a Leamington man to raise money by parting with something he held dear - his hair.

Steve Rowbotham, 32, has admitted that he “really did not want to” have his hair shaved off but allowed a barber to set about his locks with electric clippers in order to raise hundreds of pounds for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Mr Rowbotham’s mother Lesley Chaplin has been given the all clear after cancer treatment but he said he knows other people are not so fortunate as her and he recently lost his friend Mat Davis, who died of a brain tumour.

The head shave took place at the Wild Boar in Warwick where Mr Rowbotham works and he has thanked all those who have supported him. Visit http://shaveorstyle.or.uk and search for Steven Rowbotham.
