THE jury for the trial of five young people accused of killing a Rugby woman were sworn in this morning (Wednesday).
Chantelle Booth, Daniel Newstead, Duncan Edwards, Joe Boyer and Jessica Lynas all pleaded not guilty to murder at Warwick Crown Court in December last year to the murder of 27-year-old Gemma Hayter on August 9.
Her body was found on a disused railway line in Hillmorton. All five defendants also face an actual bodily harm charge relating to Gemma.
This morning Booth, Newstead, Edwards, Boyer and Lynas appeared in the crown court dock together at the Justice Centre in Leamington where they only spoke to confirm their names, before the jury of three women and nine men were officially sworn in.
The trial will officially start tomorrow (Thursday) and is expected to last for around six weeks.
