A report just published following a short inspection in early February says the school has maintained the good rating it was given in July 2012.

The Inspector praised the school’s ‘vibrant environment which motivates pupils and supports their learning’ and the ‘innovative use of space and resources’. The London double decker bus converted into a library was described as ‘a shining example’.

The report judged teaching to be good and acknowledged recently introduced new approaches to teaching phonics and mathematics.

It also highlighted the ‘many ways’ the school promotes attendance and supports families experiencing difficulty getting their children to school regularly.

But the inspector said some families ‘continue to keep their children off school too often’ - and the school should ‘keep seeking new ways’ to reduce absence.

Head Andrew Moorcroft said the report showed the school had addressed the areas identified for improvement after the 2012 inspection.

He said: “It is our mission to ensure that all pupils make outstanding progress and achieve their potential and we are continually looking at new ways to make sure this happens.”

In addition to further action on attendance the other area for improvement was to see, ‘pupils confidently and consistently apply appropriate grammar, punctuation, spelling and a variety of sentences to their writing across all subjects’.
