PUPILS and staff at Harris School have celebrated improved GCSE results.

At least 56 per of students achieved five A* to C grades including English and maths, up 13 percentage points on last year’s figure. The achievement matches targets set to put Harris within the top 25 per cent of schools in the country for student progress.

Headteacher Steve Dobson said: “These results demonstrate that students of all abilities achieve highly at Harris.

“We are equally proud of the many youngsters who gained A or A* across the board as those who have overcome difficulties to achieve their best. I am proud of the achievements of our young people, their parents and staff at the school. Harris has an excellent reputation for looking after young people.”

The Church of England school, which is in Harris Drive, is now oversubscribed. Earlier this year it gained an award for its GCSE progress over the past three years.
