Rugby’s Hospital of St Cross has received a huge funding boost thanks to generous savings-account holders at a building society.
The 10th annual donation from Coventry Building Society, for £20,659 this year, has increased compared with 2015, reflecting increased support from the community.
It takes the overall total the Friends of St Cross has received from the society to an impressive £192,384.
Willy Goldschmidt, chairman of the Friends, said: “We are most grateful for the support we have received from the building society over the years.
“The society not only operate accounts which support our charity, but has also helped us with the design and printing of our newsletters.
“The size of the donation this year is £2,496 more than last year which means the community has given even more support for the hospital and the charity.
“This donation will be placed in the general funds which will ensure that we can continue to make a difference through donations of equipment which improve the patient experience, while we carry on raising money for the sleep studies project we announced in November.”
The cheque presentation was combined with thanks to Tony Cousins who has retired as a trustee after 18 years, though he will continues to serve as a volunteer.
After the presentations, society representatives were given tours of the hospital.
