Help for Heroes fundraising mission complete

GYM instructors from Warwickshire College have raised £1,100 for Help for Heroes by putting their strength and endurance to the test.

Joel Goddard and Dene Holloway walked from the college’s Leamington campus to its Henley-in-Arden site carrying weighted backpacks and a dummy combat casualty on a stretcher.

The men collected sponsorship money, with Mr Goddard’s father Paul organising a whip-round at his workplace Ricardo in Leamington, and their fundraising effort was boosted by donations made by passers-by along the 13-mile route.

Mr Goddard said: “We were both very appreciative of the generosity of people we met along the way.

“Some of them stopped in their cars and local businesses people came out of their shops to donate.

“It was very touching.”
