Hester and the art of a long life

KNOWING when you’ve had enough of a good thing may have helped Hester
McClintoch reach her 100th birthday.

Hester, who celebrated her centenary last Saturday, said: “You can enjoy good food or a drink but it’s important to know when you need to stop.”

Hester lives in Barby with her daughter Charlotte. She also has two other children, Mary and John, as well as seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

After losing her husband John in 1955 she raised her three children while always pursuing an interest in art, mainly as a teacher.

She said: “I like to go to the local art group, my eyesight might be getting worse but I still like to walk around and share advice with the others.”
