The local highways authority has apologised after roadworks caused lengthy delays to motorists in Rugby.

On Saturday and Sunday Balfour Beatty, on behalf of Warwickshire County Council, carried out resurfacing works on the northbound carriageway of the A426 at Kipling Island.

A WCC spokesperson said: “Although diversions were in place, some traffic delays and disruption occurred.

“Warwickshire County Council apologises for any inconvenience caused.

“Works to the southbound carriageway are planned to take place later in the year with all work completed at night.”
