MOTORISTS will be relieved to know that Hillmorton Road is no longer affected by roadworks.

Since the end of July the main road has been clogged up due to work being carried out by Western Power Distribution.

The company has been providing electricity to Rugby School’s new modern languages block, which is being built in Horton Crescent.

The three-way traffic lights at the junction with Hillmorton Road were removed on Tuesday evening and the pedestrian footpath around the site should be open by tomorrow (Friday).

Several motorists also contacted the Advertiser this week to complain that no workmen were on site last weekend, despite the three way traffic light system causing delays.

Responding to the complaints, the company has said workmen were working throughout the weekend, but would have only been visible from Horton Crescent.

Elsewhere in Rugby there are also roadworks going on in Russelsheim Way and on the M45 near Dunchurch on the eastbound carriageway.

Other works are taking place on the A46 Coventry Eastern bypass near Binley Woods which has been causing more significant disruption.
