A 67-year-old cyclist suffered serious head injuries after a hit and run incident in Rugby.

Warwickshire Police are appealing for witnesses after the cyclist was hit by a car which drove away from the scene on the A4071, Cawston.

The incident occurred at 3.35pm on Saturday August 15, on the A4071 roundabout that connects to the B4643 Coventry Road.

The victim, a 67 year-old woman, was knocked from her bicycle by a black BMW Coupe as she cycled around the island.

The BMW then left the scene without stopping, and drove off towards the A45.

The cyclist was taken by ambulance to the University Hospital in Coventry after suffering serious head injuries. These are not thought to be life-threatening.

Police are appealing for any information to the trace the vehicle and identify the driver and any passengers in the BMW.
