A theatre at the Hospital of St Cross in Rugby was forced to close after structural damage was caused to the roof.
It happened at the Barby Road hospital yesterday afternoon (Tuesday).
David Eltringham, chief operating officer at University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust, said: “An incident in the roof space of the theatre complex at the Hospital of St Cross has caused structural damage and subsequent theatre closure. The incident occurred during routine maintenance and while no patients or staff were affected, as a precaution the theatres have remained closed to enable a structural repair and clinical cleaning. It is envisaged the theatres will be fully reopen by October 3. While we are working to minimise the impact, I would like to apologise for any inconvenience that this has caused to our patients at this time.”
