Improved school closure alerts for Rugby parents

Warwickshire County Council has made significant improvements to their school closure alerts system for parents.

During the last 3-4 years more than 50,000 text messages have been successfully sent to parents alerting them in a timely manner to the fact that their child’s school will be closed.

Emergency school closures can take place due to unplanned incidents such as severe weather or industrial action.

Like the old alerts, the text messages you receive are free and are funded by the county council.

The new and improved system builds on the efficiencies of the old with the differences being that parents will receive text messages quicker than before and it’s easier to sign up with an option introduced to subscribe by phone.

Parents also have options to sign up to multiple schools, receive text messages of planned closures 7 days or less in advance of the closure.
