A group of independent business owners have produced a Discover Rugby booklet to promote the range of shops and attractions in the town.
The colourful brochure covers all the bases of shopping, hair and beauty, leisure, food and drink.
The booklets have been funded by Warwickshire County Council’s Operation Footfall scheme which gives grants to businesses to help increase footfall in market towns and town centres.
Bev Thomas, from Etcetera in Regent Street, said the booklets have had a positive impact so far.
“I’ve had customers coming in to the shop saying ‘we didn’t know you were here before but we’ve seen you in this brochure’ which is fantastic,” she said.
“On the whole businesses have been very supportive and they are seeing the benefits of the Discover Rugby booklet.
“It’s encouraging people to come into the town and explore the range of independent shops on offer.”
Bev, who has taken a leading role in the design and circulation of the booklets, said it was important for the town centre to compete with out of town retail parks.
“Pretty soon Elliott’s Field will open and we need to make people aware of the great items and service they can pick up in town that won’t be on offer at the retail park,” she said.
The brochures have been delivered to 18,000 homes in the borough and around 5,000 businesses.
