Keeping the streets clean

PEOPLE in a Rugby neighbourhood rallied around to help keep their area looking clean and tidy.

Members of the public, community leaders and businesses were invited to take part in a litter-pick on Saturday morning in the Benn ward in north-east Rugby.

Borough and county councillor Helen Walton, who arranged for Rugby Borough Council to provide all the necessary equipment, was joined by MP Mark Pawsey and a small group of others who spent the morning picking up rubbish.

The litter-pick was organised following a recent meeting of the Brownsover, Benn and Newbold Community Forum where residents expressed an interest in getting together to help keep the streets clear of rubbish.

The litter-pick began 9.45am at St Andrews Benn Primary School in Chester Street and continued through until midday, by which point there were lots of black bags filled with rubbish.
