Kenilworth man charged with causing death of elderly couple after collision in Leamington last year

A KENILWORTH man has been charged with six offences relating to a collision last year in which an elderly man and woman were fatally injured.

Lee McGuigan, of Hyde Road, Kenilworth, has been charged with two counts of causing death whilst under the influence of drink, two counts of causing death by careless driving and two counts of causing death whilst driving an uninsured vehicle.

The collision occurred in Bericote Lane, Leamington, on September 5 and involved a Ford Focus and a BMW.

Ellen Breakwell, 89, who was a passenger in the Focus, died on September 7 as a result of her injuries and her husband George, 95, died five days later as a result of his injuries.

McGuigan will appear before magistrates in Leamington on Wednesday (June 29).
