Eleven young people from the school spent four days in the German capital, visiting sites including the Sachsenhausen Concentration Camp, Wannsee Memorial House. Jewish Museum, the Berlin Wall Memorial Centre, Checkpoint Charlie and the Bundestag (Parliament).

One of the pupils on the trip said: “Berlin is a city that, in the past century, has witnessed events which have shaped all our lives. To visit the places we have read about in textbooks, to live and breathe history, is a once-in-a-lifetime experience for any budding historians.”

Another pupil said: “I really enjoyed the trip. We’ve visited some fascinating places that were often very moving.”
