Ladies night in Rugby will raise funds for charity

Two Rugby friends have got together to organise a ladies charity night in aid of Breast Cancer Now.

Caz Morgan helped to organise the evening - which features male strippers and Welsh drag queen act CC Quin - alongside her good friend Jo Sutton, who is currently battling breast cancer.

It is the second time the pair have thrown a ladies-only evening of entertainment to raise funds for the charity.

The previous event in November raised £2,200 and they are hoping that this night will generate even more than that.

Speaking to the Advertiser, Caz said: “Jo was diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer last year at the age of 35 and is currently undergoing chemo at Leicester Royal.

“The latest scan results show that the breast and bone tumours have completely shrunk meaning there is no visible remaining disease and that the tumour in her pelvis is just visible.

“Results have exceeded expectations, thank goodness.

“However, when first diagnosed, Jo was told that she would not survive longer than five years. She did not give into this and sought to raise more money for Breast Cancer Now and to totally live for the moment.

“Jo has raised money for this charity since her mother died of bone cancer. Her JustGiving page has raised £13,000 so far, with her fiance doing events and our charity nights helping.

“Jo is amazing, kind and loving and has been a total inspiration to me and many others.”

Male waiters will also be on hand to serve up drinks on the evening, in addition to a raffle with some great prizes and a light buffet.

The event will take place on Saturday, August 20 starting at 8pm.

Tickets cost £20 and are on sale now at the Rugby Workers Club in Oliver Street.
