The Rugby Rokeby Lions are appealing for businesses and residents to join their pancake day races and they are also looking for woman to join the annual ‘ladies’ fancy dress charity pancake race’.

This year’s race will be raising money for New Directions, a charity which makes a difference to the lives of vulnerable people and money will also go to the Lions’ charities.

Following recent extension work of Richmond Lodge to provide additional accommodation for residents, New Directions now wish to provide a relaxed outside area for the residents to use in the form of a Sensory Garden, which will take the form of lawned areas with walkways around and through for easy access to all the facilities and also paved sitting areas around the garden for general use.

The main focal point of the garden will be the central illuminated water feature located in an octagonal paved area, with seating provided around it in the form of wooden benches.

Also, there will be raised planting beds located around the garden for residents’ use, together with external wall and low level post lighting for night time illumination of the garden and paved areas.

The Rugby Rokeby Lions are hoping to raise as much sponsorship as possible from the Pancake Race to help towards the £20,000 project.

The pancake races will take place on Tuesday February 28.
