THIS year’s Rugby in Bloom competition is now open to entries from individuals, businesses and community groups.

For the first time, the judging panel will include volunteers from the Rugby Gardeners Guild, which is helping to organise the competition.

Cllr Dr Mark Williams, Rugby Borough Council portfolio holder for the environment, said: “Gardening and growing your own vegetables are incredibly popular past-times. They help to keep you fit and healthy, but also benefit the local environment.

“Residents, businesses and community groups can and do make a significant difference to their neighbourhoods by tending their pots, allotments, gardens and green spaces, and the Rugby in Bloom competition rewards those that have the biggest impact.”

Competition entries are open until July 1. More details and entry forms are available at the Visitor Centre at the Library, Art Gallery and Museum, the town hall or online at, or follow @rugbyinbloom on twitter.

Rugby has an impressive reputation in the regional Heart of England in Bloom competition, and the town and borough regularly attains a Gold medal - the highest accolade possible.
