Three Lawrence Sheriff students embarked on a challenge to get to the top of 15 mountains in Wales to raise money for charity.

Elijah Harper, Jacob Barnaby and Luke Lucas, all 16, set out on the Welsh 3,000s Challenge last month which required them to get to the top of 15 mountains over 3000 ft in the space of 24 hours without any transport.

The challenge was part of their silver Duke of Edinburgh Award to raise money for Pancreatic Cancer Research Fund.

Starting at 4.50am the boys battled 45mph winds and completed nine mountains before calling it a day at 6pm.

Elijah’s dad Jeremy said: “I felt it was too dangerous to continue. We have all decided to call this unfinished business and plan to go back to do the final six.”
