Libraries under threat in bid to save £2 million

Economies in the libraries’ budget are just the latest in an avalanche of cuts falling on Shire Hall, where councillors must save a total of £60 million over the next four years.

On Wednesday Councillor Colin Hayfield, whose portfolio includes libraries, was adamant that full public consultation on difficult closure decisions will be made between March and June.

Among the library buildings in south Warwickshire that have been identified as being no longer sustainable in their current form are Harbury, Studley and Kineton, which has already moved to the village hall.
