It was a proud moment for a Long Lawford man as he visited Buckingham Palace this week after being honoured by the Queen.
Professor Richard Wilding was made an OBE for his services to business.
Upon being named in the Queen’s New Year honours list, he said he is living proof that even those who struggle in school can find success elsewhere.
Part of his recognition lay in pioneering new approaches to logistics and supply chain management - an industry which has ensured Rugby’s employment rate is usually higher than the rest of the country.
Richard, who works at Cranford School of Management in Bedfordshire, said: “I wasn’t great at school and it is amazing that I am now a professor. I am humbled to received the OBE.
“It just shows that even if you struggle at school you can achieve great things by working hard.”
