Long-serving first aiders from Warwickshire village are thanked
Mick and Barbara Shephard, both 64, have been on call to respond to 999 calls since 2003 - and they have been given a Chief Officer’s Commendation from West Midlands Ambulance Service for responding to a call-out in heavy snow by using their 4×4 responder truck, saving ambulance crews and the patient from slipping, in 2011. They also received the Queens Jubilee Medal for their service in 2012.
Mick said: “We have thoroughly enjoyed serving the ambulance service and our local communities, but we feel this is the right time to retire. Hopefully we have made a difference to people in their hour of need.”
