This picture may bring back a few memories for anyone who worked at Rugby Radio Station.

Standing in the middle of the vast machinery in the power house is George Owen, who was a technician there for 21 years from about 1970 until he died in 1991, at the age of 57. George’s wife Sylvia has shared these photographs with us and remembers that the masts had to be painted by hand.

The other picture she thinks is from the 1960s and is possibly Follsain- Wycliffe football team at Lutterworth, who were a foundry or factory team. George is the player on the very left on the back row, and the only others Sylvia can name are Nigel Harratt, who is in the centre of the back row and Eddie Morgan, who is kneeling on the left in the front.

George also played for the Beehive pub team, which Sylvia thinks was near the old cattle market.
