Lottery grant for New Directions in Rugby is vital to help service users develop activities

New Directions is working in close partnership with a Midlands based community interest company called Particip8 in order to provide health, sport, lifestyle and learning opportunities for all its learning disabled service users.

Acting manager Andrea Hann said: “Service users benefit greatly from taking part in drama sessions, learning new skills, gaining confidence and improving communication. Sport and physical activities such as those provided by Particip8 are essential to the health and wellbeing of our service users, who we encourage to take part, try new sports, have fun and meet people.”

Service users from Community Choices Network will be attending free multi-sport and physical activities every Monday and Thursday from 10am to 12pm at Hill Street Youth and Community Centre, Rugby. The sessions are offered by New Directions with Particip8.

Participants have the opportunity to learn new skills, take up a hobby and socialise at the same time.

There will also be enough funding to provide a qualified drama teacher at Community Choices Network on Fridays for two hours for one year.

New Directions is a vibrant, well established local charity supporting adults with learning disabilities to live interesting and fulfilling lives.
